SUSTAINABILITY
GOOD SOURCES
We produce ingredients that taste good, but do good too.
Every bottle of BACARDÍ dark and gold rum is aged and handcrafted to perfection by our unbroken line of master rum makers, the Maestros de Ron BACARDÍ. Long, short, shaken, stirred or built in the glass, if you have the moment, we have the rum.
Ageing, blending, even the specific level of char in the barrel can all affect the colour, depth, complexity and taste of the final rum. BACARDÍ’s Gold and Dark rums have earned extra layers of these from the passage of time and the skill of the Maestros de Ron BACARDÍ, leading to a smooth and versatile rum range that’s as famous for its mixability as its distinctive taste.
Whether you’re making a dark rum cocktail, or looking for a drop of rum gold, BACARDÍ has an expression waiting to take your creativity to the next level. That’s because each BACARDÍ dark or gold rum brings something different to a mixed drink or cocktail; whether it’s the flavours of honey and freshly baked bread found in BACARDÍ Añejo 4, the golden caramel and soft smoke of BACARDÍ Carta Oro, or the intense flavour and aroma of caramelized pineapple found in BACARDÍ Carta Negra.
Perhaps you’re making a summer crowd-pleaser, a zesty, gold rum cocktail with a spicy bite of ginger, or a dark rum mixed drink that’s exploding with flavour. If you’re looking for liquid escapism, BACARDÍ’s Gold and Dark rums are found at the heart of many of the great tropical cocktails. Try a Mai Tai with BACARDÍ Carta Oro, a classic rum punch with BACARDÍ Añejo 4, or an intense yet refreshing Jungle Bird with BACARDÍ Carta Negra.
Every BACARDÍ rum has its own unique process, character and flavour profile. BACARDÍ Carta Negra is a blend of rums that haves pent time in heavily charred barrels that give it rich and deep flavours of oak. BACARDI Carta Oro has perfectly balanced notes of caramel, almond and ripe banana. BACARDÍ Añejo 4, meanwhile, has been aged for at least four years giving it notes of honey, aromatic spices, freshly baked bread and tropical fruit.
When they were first created, each of these rums was originally known by their Spanish name; BACARDÍ Carta Oro (BACARDÍ Gold Label) and BACARDÍ Carta Negra (BACARDÍ Black Label). Since then, some countries have settled on BACARDÍ Gold and BACARDÍ Black.
BACARDÍ’s dark and gold rums contain purified water, high-quality molasses and our signature strain of yeast, La Levadura BACARDÍ.
Yes, they are.
BACARDÍ Carta Oro is a versatile rum but it mixes particularly well with cola and ginger beer/ale.It also blends beautifully with pineapple, raspberry, apple and citrus. In cocktails, try it in a Ginger Snap, an Electric Avenue or a Golden Apple.
The big and bold flavour of BACARDÍ Carta Negra is great with tropical fruit like pineapple, passion fruit and mango, as well as a fiery ginger beer. Some of our favourite BACARDÍ Black cocktails include the Jungle Bird and Tiki classics like the Zombie and Hurricane.
So many things – cola, ginger ale, pineapple juice and it’s particularly lovely with fresh coconut water. You can also use it to make cocktails like the Rum Punch, Canchánchara, and the El Presidente.
Yes, all of the rums used in these expressions are aged before being blended to a specific flavour profile. This allows our master blenders the flexibility to use different rum bases as they seek the signature flavour of BACARDÍ Gold and BACARDÍ Black and for that reason, they do not carry a specific age statement.
Yes, The Cuba Libre was first made using BACARDÍ Carta Oro. Cuba Libre (free Cuba) was the rallying cry of the independence movement that sought to free the country from centuries of Spanish rule. Created in 1900, this drink is a celebration of that hard-won independence and remains one of the most simple and beloved cocktails in the world.
This combination works beautifully because they bring out the best in each other. The sweetness of cola compliments the fruit flavours found in a good rum, while both contain notes of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. As well as being simple to make, there’s also the sense of familiarity that comes from one of the most iconic drinks in the world. While you can’t go wrong with a rum and cola, you can explore other potential flavour combinations here.
The unique characters of BACARDÍ dark and gold rums make them the perfect base for mixing into cocktails.
Decadent in name, not by nature. These cocktails mix on the lighter side of things.
