SUSTAINABILITY
GOOD SOURCES
We produce ingredients that taste good, but do good too.
Smooth, balanced and endlessly mixable, meet the rum that started a cocktail revolution.
A good white rum is light, dry, aromatic and clear – a style invented by Don Facundo Bacardí Masso in 1862. Often copied but never surpassed, this pioneering BACARDÍ invention changed the way the world saw rum forever.
From the Daiquiri to the Piña Colada and the rum and cola to the very best Mojitos, many cocktails use white rum. BACARDÍ, however, is the original, indispensable ingredient that’s found at the heart of many of the world’s most iconic recipes. Smooth, dry and easy to use, it’s the perfect white rum for making drinks that are cold, crisp and refreshing.
Judged on taste, age, quality and consistency, BACARDÍ is proudly the world’s most awarded rum maker – with more than 1000 to our name. Many of these are due to the pioneering techniques laid down by our founder, Don Facundo Bacardí Masso – the pioneer of white rum – in 1862, all of which are still used today.
We only use sustainable ingredients, whether it’s our water, or our signature yeast, La Levadura BACARDÍ – the cornerstone of our rum’s flavour profile. Our sugarcane molasses, meanwhile, is Bonsucro® certified – the world’s highest level for sustainable sugarcane production which also ensures a fair wage and conditions for sugarcane workers.
One of Don Facundo’s pioneering techniques was the use of natural charcoal to absorb unwanted flavours and colors, or to highlight the most desirable ones. This allowed him to create a revolutionary clear, dry and aromatic rum for the very first time – BACARDÍ Carta Blanca. It also ensures that no single flavour can dominate the final taste, a key to its legendary mixability.
Yes, however, our master rum makers, the Maestros de Ron BACARDÍ will use different recipes and combinations of charcoal depending on the flavour profile of the rum they are blending.
White rum is rum. Some rums are clear, gold, dark or spiced and the difference in colour, aroma and flavour comes from the process used to make them. The art of the Maestros de Ron BACARDÍ – our unbroken line of master rum makers – is knowing how to achieve this through blending, ageing and filtering.
No, BACARDÍ Carta Blanca is purposefully dry, aromatic and perfect for mixing.
BACARDÍ white rum is famously good in drinks that use fresh juices, cola and ginger beer. It’s also wonderful mixed with coconut water, cold brew coffee, watermelon, peach iced tea – the list goes on and on. It’s a bar in a bottle and the ultimate mixing rum.
When it was first created, BACARDÍ Carta Blanca was known by its Spanish name, Ron BACARDÍ Superior Carta Blanca (BACARDÍ Superior White Label). Since then, some countries have adopted the name BACARDÍ Superior.
BACARDÍ white rum contains purified water, high-quality molasses and our signature strain of yeast, La Levadura BACARDÍ.
BACARDÍ molasses must meet very specific characteristics – from its level of sweetness to its nutrient content and its environmental impact. As part of this it must also adhere to the Bonsucro® standard, the world’s highest level for sustainable sugarcane production.
Many of the world’s most iconic cocktails were created using BACARDÍ rum, including the Daiquiri, the Cuba Libre and the El Presidente. The earliest known written recipe for the Mojito as we know it today also specifically called for BACARDÍ Carta Blanca.
